G.6 Teaching | (d) List of Peer Teaching Observations

A list of the faculty members who conducted peer teaching observations and the dates of the observations must be included in this section using the University template. Peer teaching observation reports are included in Section 13(c) of the dossier.

Guidelines for the Observations’ content can be found on the Provost’s Office website for Promotion and Tenure.

Please keep in mind:

A minimum of three peer observations organized courses at UT Austin conducted during the candidate’s time in rank must be documented in the dossier.

Ideally, the peer observations will provide a longitudinal perspective of the candidate’s teaching in a course or courses that have proven to be challenging to teach.

Faculty peer observations must take place across at least two different academic years.  Annual peer teaching observations and teaching evaluations at both the undergraduate and graduate levels are preferred.

In exceptional circumstances, one peer observation may take place early in the fall semester in which the candidate’s dossier is being reviewed (Fall 2024).

However, the preference is for at least three peer observations to be completed at least a year before the candidate’s dossier is reviewed so that the candidate can make changes in response to the feedback provided and reflect on the impact of those changes.
