Memo to TS2 users and Observing Support
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Subject: A package of ICE scripts for TS2
Phillip MacQueen, 2014 May 15.
Background
~~~~~~~~~~
A number of Phillip MacQueen's ICE scripts for operating TS2 are used by quite a few other
observers. To date, those scripts haven't had much documentation, and their distribution has
been a little chaotic. The scripts have been recently upgraded, documented, and combined into
a single tar file for distribution. This memo is about using the new distribution.
This memo, and the documentation included in the distribution, replaces all other e-mails sent
about these TS2 scripts. All observers using any of the scripts (listed below) are advised to
install the new distribution.
Installation
~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) on oberon, change directory into the directory that holds your ICE scripts. In a typical
ICE installation this will be the directory'scripts' within your ICE directory.
2) copy the file ~pjm/ts2scripts.tar into your ICE scripts directory with:
cp ~pjm/ts2scripts.tar .
3) untar the file you just copied with:
tar -xvf ts2scripts.tar
4) read the file ts2_scripts.readme and follow the installation instructions it gives.
5) this step is not essential - it amounts pulling the weeds in your computer account, and you
can skip it if you like.
a) change to your ICE directory, and from there, change to the uparm directory
b) delete the parameter files for scripts hmfocus and process_ts23_slit4
c) change back to your ICE directory, and from there, change to your scripts directory
d) delete scripts hmfocus.cl and process_ts23_slit4.cl
