Manufacturing and Assembly - JJ

After determining the dimensions and materials during the design process and conducting a kinematic analysis, the next step was to manufacture and assemble my six-bar window mechanism. Since the links were designed using Solidworks, I was able to import them into laser cutting software. The drawings for each link were imported into Retina Engrave 3D, which was then used to cut out the links. Additionally, an acrylic-based was designed in Solidworks and cut out using a laser cutter. The base was made from acrylic sheets while the links were made from plywood. Multiple iterations were made in order to ensure an acceptable tolerance. Since tolerance affected the amount of friction between each link, I had to go through multiple renditions of the link in order to ensure a smoother operation. Finally, the entire assembly was constructed using the wooden links, acrylic base, bearings, nuts, and bolts.
