Metadata Technical Documentation
This parent documents the MODS, MADS, and Custom metadata schemas used on the AILLA site post-Islandora migration.
This documentation is arranged in a hierarchical fashion to match the MODS/MADS style as shown in the page tree below.
Every element page under the MODS, MADs, or AILLA Custom headings is set up in the following template and contains the following information.
MODS Element: [name of element]
Element Definition | MODS or MADS official definition for the element. |
AILLA Definition | AILLA definition, IF different than the official definition. |
Form option | Provides the label for and input type of the form option. |
Repeatable | Indicates whether the element is repeatable. |
Form Required? | Indicates if the element is required or recommended by the form. |
AILLA Required? | Indicates if the element is required or recommended by AILLA. |

Subelement or Attribute Name (Subelements will have "Subelement" written below the subelement name in italics for clarification) | Provides the definition of the subelement or attribute | Provides an example of what value is assigned to the subelement or attribute | Provides the XPath Syntax noted in metadata mapping sheets and employed in XML forms for the individual subelement or attribute | Provides the mapping to the Dublin Core metadata schema |
