Choosing a Wiki Template
The appearance of each wiki space is determined by that space’s Wiki Template, or what Confluence calls a “blueprint.” A blueprint is a set of page templates with added functionality to help you create, manage, and organize your wiki content more easily.
The desired blueprint is chosen when a wiki space is created, and cannot be changed later.
Blank (Default)
This is the default blueprint and is fully customizable to suit most any need. It includes a few basic macros on the homepage and shows the Page Tree, a hierarchical listing of pages in the wiki space, by default. The Blank blueprint allows for the full range of page templates to be used.
Documentation
This space blueprint is well suited for structured content, such as documentation. It displays the full Page Tree in the sidebar and hides other sidebar features like blogs and shared links. The homepage uses search and page labels to make content easy to find. Add the 'featured' label to any page you want to highlight on the homepage.
This space does not include any page blueprints but space admins can create and promote templates for your documentation authors to use. The left-hand panel, page header, and page footer are fully customizable.
This is not the Documentation Theme (which was retired in Confluence 6.0).
Knowledge Base
Ideal for maintaining either an internal or customer-facing knowledge base, this space blueprint uses search and page labels to make content easier to find, right from the space homepage. It also contains two page blueprints for creating how-to and troubleshooting articles. The templates used in these page blueprints are completely customizable to meet your needs.
Team
The Team blueprint is a great building block if you are using the University Wiki Service as an intranet or to manage teams. Team spaces highlight the members of the team, and grant permissions to those users accordingly.
Software project space
This space is designed to help you organize your software project. The purpose-built space home page lets you view and edit your roadmap, see team members, and Use Jira applications and Confluence together. Create pages in this space for requirements, meeting notes, decisions, retros, and more.
Please note that you must have a Jira project to link with your new space. Please see your Jira administrator for help creating a project if you do not have one.
In order to create a wiki space using the Software project space template, please submit a ticket to help@wikis.utexas.edu including the Jira project key, the url to your Jira site, the desired wiki space key and the name of the desired wiki space.
