The following instructions will configure your iOS device (iPhone, iPad) for Microsoft 365 using an ActiveSync connection. This will allow you to access your Microsoft 365 email using the iOS mail app, as well as synchronize your iOS contacts and calendar with your Microsoft 365 contacts and calendar. Use of the Outlook for iOS mobile app is recommended for the best experience.

Note

Apple mobile devices running iOS versions older than iOS 15 are not supported.

Adding a Mailbox

  1. Go to your iPhone or iPad's Settings app, scroll down and tap Accounts & Passwords > Add Account.


  2. Select Exchange from the list of account types.

  3. Enter your UT Microsoft 365 email address and a description of your account (e.g., "UT Austin").

  4. Tap Next

  5. Your iPhone or iPad will display a dialog asking if you want to sign in to your Exchange account using Microsoft. Tap Sign In.

  6. You will be taken to the UT Austin Office 365 sign-in page. Sign in as you normally do when accessing Microsoft 365.

  7. Choose which items you would like to sync with your iOS device (MailContactsCalendarsReminders, and/or Notes), then tap Save.

  8. Restart the device. This step is not always necessary, but can help with syncing.

Removing a Mailbox

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Passwords & Accounts.

  2. Find your Exchange account, tap on its name, then tap Delete Account.

  3. Tap Delete Account again in the pop-up.

If the above instructions fail, try the following:

  1. In the Settings app, tap General.

  2. Go to Profiles & Device Management. This item will only be present if you have a profile installed.

  3. Tap on the Exchange profile and select Remove.

Mail is the default email client preinstalled on Apple devices running iOS and macOS.
