Checking-in and out of lab

  • When you arrive to the lab, send a message in your Supervisor Chat to let us know you have arrived. If you are working at-a-distance (live in a different country for example), ensure you send us a message saying you are checking-in and out of your lab time!

    • You should have access to a “chat” on Teams where you can do this

      • This chat will have your name plus Supervisors added to it

Documentation at the end of your time in lab each day

  • At the end of EACH time you are in lab, take a few minutes to write a message in your lab notebook about the tasks you worked on to indicate the current status of where you left off and what you accomplished.

    • Provide a sufficient level of detail so it makes sense to others! You can feel free to add links if that is helpful.

    • You will also have a Lab Notebook in the Wiki where you should directly document your progress on each task. When you meet with your supervisors, have this open so we can reference it together and make necessary notes.

    • Questions can also be posed here so that they can be answered when discussing with your supervisors

    • It is your responsibility to clearly document decisions made in your Lab Notebook.

Supervisor Chat Shift Summaries

After posting in your lab notebook, copy your updates, concerns, and questions to your Supervisor Chats. It should look something like this:

...

  • Your updates should give us a good idea of what you accomplished that shift and what you are working on for the next shifts. They are a place where you can check in (let us know you're starting your shift and ending), document what was accomplished during shifts, comment if you are needing additional help, have questions, or if there have been any changes to your schedule.

Note
  • It's important to indicate specifically and directly, if you will have nothing to do the next time you are in lab via your chat.
