We are delighted to have you join our team as an undergraduate research assistant. In our lab, we are dedicated to investigating and understanding the effects of aphasia and dementia in bilingual and multilingual individuals. Your role is crucial in advancing our knowledge and contributing to studies that can significantly impact many lives.

Register for DUO:

Once you have your UT EID, install the Duo App on your phone from the Play Store or App Store. Visit the DUO setup page: http://utdirect.utexas.edu/apps/duo/register

Follow the instructions to set up DUO for two-factor authentication. This is an extra layer of security for accessing UT websites.

CITI Human Subjects research training program.

This is really important because without it we cannot grant you access to any patient information. This does need to be completed before your start date.

Please see the instructions on the following link to continue with the CITI Program Human Subjects course. Please complete the course and send the certificate back to us at your earliest convenience, but no later than one week from receiving this web link.

We understand that navigating the registration and completion process for the CITI Human Subjects course may be unfamiliar. That's why we have prepared a video in Spanish to guide you through the process.

At the Multilingual Aphasia and Dementia Lab, we provide training for our undergraduate research assistants to ensure they are well-equipped for their roles. Our training program covers essential skills, such as ethical considerations in research, the use of specialized software and equipment, and data analysis of raw data collected during specialized treatment protocols. Assistants will also receive hands-on experience through active participation in ongoing projects, guided by the researchers and clinicians. This training aims to foster a supportive learning environment that enhances both academic and professional growth.

En el Laboratorio de Afasia y Demencia Multilingüe, ofrecemos capacitación para nuestros asistentes de investigación de pregrado para garantizar que estén bien preparados para sus roles. When creating an action item, it should always include:

  • A specific task indicating which project (VISTA, WAB, Connected Speech, etc)

  • Patient Codes if applicable

  • Due dates (by when is this due, or by when do you anticipate finishing)

  • People involved (who are you turning this in to, is anyone helping you?)
