  • The new iteration removes the controls middle man and has the ignition switch signals sent directly to respective locations for LV, Charge, and Motor Enable.
  • LV Enable: IGN → Power Board
  • Charge Enable: IGN → ARR_CONT & BPS → ARR_CONT
  • Motor Enable: IGN → Controls

Ignition Switch Hardware

  • The ignition switch will always be connected to a 12V line from the supplemental battery. As before, this is a small 12V battery meant mainly for the startup of our boards; once the main HV battery pack is deemed safe by BPS, all low-voltage power will switch to that. The constant connection to the supplemental battery reduces any complications with power source transitions as the ignition switch (along with BPS) plays a pivotal role in the timing of the transitions.
  • An optoisolator will be present that will intake signals sent from the ignition switch and send them to the other boards. The purpose of an optoisolator is to allow for communication without an electrical connection, as the other boards will be powered by the main battery at some stage.
