As part of the evaluation process, the BC/EC writes a statement to be included in the promotion dossier that contextualizes the candidate’s contributions in each of the areas defined in Section A.6 and in accordance with instructions provided below in Section G.
Generally, eligible voting members of the BC/EC should write these statements. However, in special circumstances a dean or department chair may authorize a faculty member of the same rank as the candidate to write the BC/EC statement. In such cases, the dean or department chair must explain in writing the special circumstances justifying the authorization.
