Please read these requirements for appointment in EDP carefully before applying:

  • Students interested in academic student employment in Educational Psychology should first read Conditions for Student Employment from must meet all the Office of Graduate Studies.
  • Students must be registered as a full-time graduate student (i.e., 9 hours that count toward the graduate degree) in fall and spring, or 3 hours in any session during the summer, in order to be appointed as an AI or TA.
  • Students must be making good progress toward the completion of a graduate degree and be in good standing in the Graduate School (i.e., no more than two incompletes and a GPA of 3.0 or above).
  • AI's and TA’s may acquire no more than one temporary incomplete grade (X) and one permanent incomplete grade (I), or two temporary incompletes (X). Any exceptions must be approved in writing by the Graduate Adviser and the Graduate Dean.
  • Graduate School conditions under which a student was admitted, if any, must have been met or removed.' Conditions for Student Employment
  • International students must obtain English language proficiency certification.

In addition to these campus wide regulations, Educational Psychology requirements also include:

  • To be eligible for an AI or a TA position in a particular course, the student TAs and AIs for a course must have taken the same course or an approved equivalent, and be recommended by the course instructor.
  • In the appointment of TA's for ALD classesFor ALD 320 and ALD 328 TAs, preference is given to students who have teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level.
  • Appointment as an AI requires that students have completed the course 398T College Teaching Methodology (in Educational Psychology or in another department).
  • EDP AI and TAs must complete the EDP Student Employee Orientation before beginning any AI/TA duties.
