Step one is to select the final timeline to export in the AVID bin

Then go to >File>Export
| 
|
Choose to Save the file As (title of the quicktime)
Browse to where you want to save the file either "tempstorage"
or personal hard drive
Export Setting Choose Send to QT Movie
Select "Options"

Choose the following:
Export As - Quicktime Movie
Choose to Use Marks and Enabled Tracks ONLY if you want to
export a portion of the timeline that is marked in AVID
Choose Video or Audio or both to export
Choose RGB as the Color Level
Display Aspect Ratio should be set to 16:9 1920 x 1080
Click on "Save"
If AVID displays an error using "Same As Source" export that will occur because
Long GOP footage such as XDCAM - EX footage needs to be transcoded
before exporting then use the following settings.
Choose "Custom"
Click on "Format Options"
Leave all the other settings the same as shown
Click on Settings
Choose Compression Type
AVID DNXHD Codec
Frame Rate - Current
Compressor - Millions of Colors
Color Levels RGB
Alpha - None

Resolutions - IMPORTANT - CHOOSE THE FRAME RATE OF THE AVID TIMELINE
23.976 OR 59.94 PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK
THAT YOU MATCH THE FRAME RATE OF YOUR PROJECT
CLICK OK when finished
Click OK on next screen |

Click on Save again to start the export

The export will start and the time of the export will be displayed
To stop the export click on "Cmd and period"

Open Adobe After Effects
| 
|
Choose to make new composition and these settings are generally
what the comp will be set to
1920 x 1080 at 23.976 frame rate
| 
|
Import the newly created quicktime and begin the After Effects session
| 
|
Remember to preview the effects in
Ram Preview to see the playback with audio if necessary
|
