BACK UP THE DATA ON THE COMPACT FLASH CARD USING CANON XF UTILITY |

Load card to be backed up in to CF Card reader. |

Launch Canon XF Utility |
|
| ||||||
Go to >Canon XF Utility> |
|
| ||||||
Navigate to the hard drive and folder to set the backup of the card data. |
|
| ||||||
Click the Backup button |
|
| ||||||
Click "Yes" |
|
| ||||||
Will show a status bar of the copying process. |
| This is how your backup should look. |
|
| ||||
Last step is to copy the backup to a 2nd backup drive. |

| ||||||
To Verify the copy of the 2nd backup. Open Canon XF Utility |
|
| ||||||
Go to >File>Set Virtual Media |
|
| ||||||
Navigate to the backup drive and folder that you just copied over to it and select the XF Utility Generated backup folder. Example shown here. |

Launch Media Composer |
|
| ||||||
The Initial Project Screen will open. Here is where you choose where you create and save new projects. Click on the "Folder" to select where to save your new projects also how to navigate to already existing projects. |

Navigate to the hard drive and folder that you want AVID to access and save new projects |
|
| ||||||
You can look at the path where AVID will be accessing projects once you select the folder |
|
| ||||||
Now click on the "New Project" button |
|
| ||||||
The New Project Dialog will come up. Select the project parameters
|
|
| ||||||
Select the newly created project and Click OK at the Select Project Screen |
|
| ||||||
When the project opens the next step will be to link to the CANON raw files that were backed up in their native file structure. |

Navigate to the folder that your just backed up the CF card data to using Canon XF Utility |
|
| ||||||
This is what a AMA linked Master Clip looks like. Notice the chain link on the master clip icon? |

Go to Clip> |
|
| ||||||
Choose Consolidate |
|
| ||||||
Choose Relink Master clips to media on target drive |
|
| ||||||
The clips will consolidate to the AVID MediaFiles folders and will create a "Master Clip" |
|
| ||||||
Use the newly made Master Clips without the "chain link" |
|
| ||||||
Move these files to a new bin and close the bin with the AMA clips. |
