  • ...\Grants: Occasionally we will need screenshots, pictures of people working, or other similar types of images to include in a grant proposal. If you are asked to do screen-grabs this would be where they would be saved.
  • ...\Accessions: Sometimes, a donor will provide us with images they have taken. These will not have NPL numbers, but because they are associated with an accession, they are not considered 'orphans' and instead are save in the Accessions folder, with a sub-folder with the accession number and name they are associated with. Having a photograph of boxed material as it comes in provides a good reference if there is ever any question about how many boxes/ on what day were sent. While unpacking, photograph any specimens damaged in shipping, and also include photos of damaged packaging.
  • ...\OutreachTalks: Photos that are part of ready-made Outreach talks are kept here, organized in sub-folders based on their titles.
  • ...\Research at NPL: Support material, slide shows and process photos should be kept here.

Be aware that photographs with an accession will often get their own folder within the file tree. These are named after the donor. Examples include the Rubac Collection, Wallace brachiopods, and the Jean Andrews Collection. There is also a 'Collections' folder
