The mechanism which I chose to base this project on is the 5 bar slotted mechanism shown below.
The goal of this mechanism is to convert rotary motion into linear motion by causing the slider to move up and down through the rotation of the input link. The way in which the mechanism was initially presented in the image below would not have allowed for the full rotation of the input link. In order to create a mechanism that would allow for a full 360-degree rotation of the input link, I modified some of the lengths of the links.
