Studio Access & Safety
- MASKS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED IN THE COSTUME SHOP AT ALL TIMES!!! (but not required)
- General shop studio hours are 9am-6pm M-F
- If you are working after hours, alone or with only a few other people, please lock the shop studio doors for safety.
- The Shop Studio is a shared workspace for Costume shop staff and students. Classes are also held in the space.
- It is a good idea to hide or secure your valuables if left unattended. Things have gone missing in the past.
- Graduate and undergraduate costume students are assigned drawers for extra storage space.
- Last person to leave should turn off irons & lights, close doors, and lock outer doors.
- UT Tools and equipment need to stay in the costume shopstudio

Studio Care
- This is a professional work environment. Please be conscious of the noise level you are contributing to the shop. If you want to listen to music or watch a movie, please use ear buds/headphones
- WE strongly encourage you to take an outside lunch break. We strongly recommend everyone to remain masked as much as possible in the shop. If you cannot go outside, please use trays when you eat at your table space
- Keep the sink area clean. Do your dishes, don't keep food lingering for too long, etc. Graduate student sink area is your responsibility.
- Recycling- all goes in the general recycling bins even though they may say “paper”
- Sharps boxes are located around the shop- dispose of any broken/damaged needles, pins, razors, etc.
- Shared machines (serger, hemmer, etc.)
- keep area clean
- Report any machine or shop issues IMMEDIATELY to staff, including staff machines that you may use after hours

Studio Supplies
- Dress forms- take good care of them & report any problems
- See Dress Form Use and Care document for details
- Supply Drawers:
- Supplies are not for personal or class project use, unless it is for production
- Do not keep supplies at your table. Put things back for everyone's use
- If you cannot find something, ask a staff member
- If you use the last of something or open the last from overstock, inform a staff person IMMEDIATELY
- Fabric Stock
- If there are at least two UNCUT yards of fabric, it can be stored on a bolt.
- All fabric should be secured with ties or calamari loops.
- Smaller amounts of scrap fabric should be neatly bundled, tied off, and put in the scrap drawers.
- There is a blue basket by the double doors to put unusable/discarded scraps for recycling
- Commercial Patterns are available for use. They are located in the back hallway
