  • Mac or PC Computer
  • Printer USB cable (optional)(with toner and paper)

  • Paper (for a print test)

Finding and Installing Drivers

If the driver is not automatically installed, it can be downloaded from the printer manufacturer’s website:

  1. Check your printer manufacturer’s support site. To find it, search the internet for the name of your printer manufacturer plus the word “support,” such as “HP support.” 
  2. Driver updates are often available in the “Drivers” section of a printer manufacturer’s website. Some support sites let you search for your printer model number directly. Locate and download the latest driver for your printer model, then follow the installation instructions on the manufacturer’s website.

1.  Using the search bar in the bottom left corner of your screen, type "Printers & Scanners".

2. Click "Add a printer or scanner" and then click "The printer I want isn't listed".

 

3. Click "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname" and then click "Next".

4. Under Device Type, choose "TCP/IP Device".

5. For Hostname or IP address, type your IP address.

6. For Allow the Port name , type your IP address.to autocomplete. 

7. Make sure "Query the printer and automatically select driver to use" is checked and click "Next".

Finding and Installing PC Drivers

Windows Update will have the latest printer driver

  1. Select Start, then select Settings  > Update & Security .

  2. Select Check for updates.

If Windows Update finds an updated driver, it will download and install it, and your printer will automatically use it.

Install software that came with your printer

  1. If your printer came with a disc, it might contain software that can help you install drivers for your printer or check for driver updates.

Most drivers are self-installing. After you download them, double-click (or double-tap) the file to begin installing it. Then follow these steps to remove and reinstall the printer.

  1. Select Start , then select Settings  > Devices  > Printers & scanners .

  2. Under Printers & scanners, find the printer, select it, and then select Remove device.

  3. After removing your printer, add it back by selecting Add a printer or scanner. Wait for your device to find nearby printers, select the one you want, and then select Add device.
