Dean’s Distinguished Equity & Community Service Award
PurposeTo recognize a faculty member in the College of Education who has been on the faculty for at least five years with extraordinary achievement across their portfolios. In particular, this faculty member has compiled a distinguished record of centering equity and inclusion in extraordinary service and mentoring to students, staff, and/or faculty, their program/department/College of Education, the University of Texas at Austin, and broader communities (inclusive of Central Texas, the state of Texas, the nation, and beyond). AwardThe award recipient will be recognized with a certificate and will receive a stipend of $2,500. Nomination ProcedureNominations are solicited from the students and faculty of the college, to be sent to the appropriate department chair. Each department may nominate one faculty member. Nominations shall include the following: 14 incomplete A nominating letter from the chair 15 incomplete A curriculum vitae 16 incomplete At least two supporting letters from colleagues and/or community members attesting to the nominee's impact on issues of equity and community engagement. One letter must be from an individual or organization outside of The University of Texas at Austin 17 incomplete Up to three supporting letters from students and/or community members 18 incomplete Evidence of community service and impact (press releases, media articles, letters) 19 incomplete Personal statement, no longer than three pages, that highlights the nominee's extraordinary commitment to community service and equity as demonstrated by: a. Their leadership and accomplishments, demonstrating excellence across the candidate's portfolio of other work (including research and teaching for tenured faculty, or other specialization area for NTT faculty), providing the nominee's philosophy of community service and equity, including b. Contributions to the nominee's students, department, college/school, University, and beyond, c. Service and mentorship in support of inclusion and diversity within the department, school, University, and beyond, and d. Shares the nominee's ideas for how they will advocate and advance community service and equity as a recipient of this award Nomination DeadlineAll nomination materials are to be in the Dean’s Office by March 1, 2021. Selection ProcedureFinal selection will be made by a committee appointed by the Dean and chaired by an Associate Dean. Recipient will be notified of the award in May. |
