Background: Collaborative Care + Integrated Practice Units
Dell Medical School has committed to deploying an evidence-based model of fully-integrated mental health care delivery systems under the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM). The CoCM model is a way of providing mental health services in a primary care setting to target common, mild/moderate complexity, mild/moderate severity problems. Collaborative Care (CC) will be implemented in many of the school's Integrated Practice Units (IPUs) to strategically address the mental health needs of chronically ill patients. UT Health Austin begun seeing patients on October 17, 2017.
The clinics are using team-based models built around individual patients, a reflection of the innovative educational principles developed by the Dell Medical School. On November 28, 2017, the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences began providing treatment for patients with multiple sclerosis, cognitive impairment/Alzheimer's disease and bipolar disorder.
