All human subjects research at UT is performed under the oversight of the Institutional Review Board (IRB). The IRB requirement is that you


You may not have any interactions with a research participant or their images or data, unless you are named on the IRB protocol.


Note that IRB coverage only applies to participants involved in particular study, so you cannot observe as an L0 user, or perform duties as an L1 / L2 user for another research group, unless you have been added to that IRB protocol as well.

To ensure compliance with IRB policy, the BIC requires documentation of users being on the Study Team.  Please use these instructions to submit IRB system screenshots with your L0 or L1 training packet.

(Note: a PI or Co - Investigator on the protocol will need to login to the UT Research Management suite)

And the screen is shown with the Study Team:  A screenshot of this (or a print to PDF if there are several pages to show the study name and trainee names)

can be used to show that the MRI user is listed with the IRB as part of the Study Team, and this goes into the MRI user's L0 or L1 training packet.


The trainee's name must be visible on the screenshot along with the study information.
