New Streamlined Process
I. CT Recruitment
- UT Coordinators supply teachers in Austin ISD with AISD’s electronic Interest form . There is no longer a separate CT Agreement form for UT-AISD placements.
- For campuses where the coordinator has no prior relationship, reach out to the principal for guidance. If a relationship is already in place, you may contact teachers directly. It is recommended to let principals know you are recruiting at their campus.
- Send a list of the CTs that you are recruiting to jenny.carney@austin.utexas.edu using the placement worksheet located on Wiki and these names will be added to the CT tracking document located on UT Box to identify them as the CTs that you are recruiting. As Interest Forms are received the CT tracking document will be updated.
Coordinators must first contact the campus principals when making placements in Austin ISD.
Principals must first be contacted and their permission received prior to talking with the teachers. Coordinators will supply teachers in Austin ISD with Cooperating Teacher Applications each semester. The applications will be completed electronically through DocuSign.
Teachers are required to complete and submit Cooperating Teacher Applications/Agreements that have been approved by their principals.
After principal permission is received, teachers may be recruited only during the dates given to us by the district. The Recruiting and Placement Timeline for each semester will be made available to the coordinators as soon as it is established.
Teachers may not host students unless/until a signed form from their principals has been received, either by the Education Services Office or the district. Applications are available on the Education Services Wiki. CT Agreement Forms Submission information may be found at the bottom of the applications.
I am writing to provide information on a new streamlined process for recruiting Cooperating Teachers in AISD. In the past, UT had an agreement form, and AISD did as well. We We have now collaborated with Austin ISD to create one form and share the contents. This is our pilot semester, and we will continue to make improvements with your feedback. We ask for your flexibility as we try a new approach to making the CT recruiting process smoother for everyone. The Cooperating Teacher tracking worksheet document is what you will see in UT BOX and will be continuously updated as the new CT Interest forms come inare received. Note: Using the new form, the principal approval occurs by April 26th. If the principal does not recommend the CT, which rarely happens, we will contact you.

During the initial month of recruiting (March 18th-April 12th), if you are working to connect with a school and are not getting a response from the principal, please email me Kelly at kcruise@utexas.edu. I She will reach out to the district each week with a list of schools that have been unresponsive to requests and AISD will nudge the principals. Send me your needs to her by Friday of the second week(after reaching out twice with no response) and I she will send the district a list of nudge requests by the following Monday.
PLEASE REMIND ALL CT'S YOU RECRUIT TO INDICATE ON THE FORM THAT THEY WANT TO WORK WITH YOU ON THE FORM.
