Please note that the use of SOA Technology Lab Services including equipment checkout, printing, plotting, and digital fabrication is restricted to members of the SOA community (faculty, staff, and students). This equipment Plotting does not require the Digital Fabrication subscription.

  • All file names must begin with the student's EID
    • Filename EID & submission account EID must match
  • All prints must be submitted as a flattened PDF
    • Other filetypes frequently have errors in printing
  • Due to plot volume and drying time, students are allowed to pick up their plots later
    • Unclaimed plots are placed on the racks near the plotters for later pickup
    • Any unclaimed plots are recycled Friday at close and you will still be charged
  • Plots over 72” are not advised and will not be given a refund or reprint if there are issues in the print
    • It is suggested that prints over 72” are paneled down into smaller drawings
    • Consider limiting your plot to 60" on one side and sending the file through the HP plotter
  • Plots for instructors must be submitted with the process detailed here: Printing & Plotting as Student Staff

If you notice an issue on your What-I-Plotted statement, you must reach out to trig@utexas.edu for assistance.

The submitter is responsible for the cost of the plot if the issue falls within the list of potential issues below. If the file is changed and submitted, the submitter is responsible for the cost of the initial plot and the corrected plot.

Quality problems may be indicative of an issue with the file. Those issues may present themselves in multiple ways:

Please report any quality issues to Technology Lab staff ASAP. If you don't make us aware, then we can't investigate the cause.

Errors on the Plotter

If the KIP plotters have a system error, they automatically replot your file with no intervention, and you will only be charged once.
