Please use the programs color coded with your science instrument. For example, TS2 observers should use the blue ICE and GDR launchers, rather than the green or yellow launchers in order to avoid faults.
Universal (Purple, Red, Pink):
DS9:
DS9 is used to display .FITS files created by the instrument used. It may also be used to do quick analysis of data, or to display calibration files to ensure proper pixel alignment.

Image Reduction and Analysis Facility (IRAF):
IRAF is a terminal environment where users may queue analysis scripts directly into DS9.
Telescope Control System (TCS):
The TCS is used to control the position, pointing, tracking, and focus of the telescope. Built in or user-created worklists can be used.
More information about the TCS.
Night Report:
The night report is a log used by the Observing Support team to track sky conditions, observer needs, and telescope faults. The Night Report MUST be filled out by all observers to the best of their ability. Please do NOT submit the Night Report at the end of observations, an Observing Support team member will submit the form the following morning. A completed example can be seen below.
Log:
A workbook to be used at the leisure of the observer.

The Slit Camera is mounted at the end of the HJST's cage assembly, facing away from the secondary mirror. Generally, it will show a view of the dome slit. It is particularly useful when moving the windscreens to ensure they do not obstruct the light path. Additionally, the camera will help you determine the position of the dome shell. It is good practice to hold any integrations until after the dome has ceased moving.
TS2 (Blue):
ICE:
ICE is a Linux terminal environment that grants the user control over the TK3 detector. When launched, the window will display a command line with 'ecl>'. To change to the 'ice>' environment use the following command 'ecl> mytasks' followed by 'ecl> ice'.

Tull Spectrograph GUI (TS):E-
The TS GUI serves as a status display and control surface for the Coudé spectrograph and its various probes and instruments.
More information and functions.
Exposure Meter (E-M):
The E-meter configures and displays exposure length and exposure photon counts.
Autoguider (GDR):
Autoguider is a program that when properly configured, automatically pans the telescope to the brightest point within a bounding box.
