Discussion Notes
- Goodwill: won't take anything that can be recalled, but will take most other things
- Car seats can be donated to Baby Earth and they will give a coupon
- Austin Children's Shelter or SafePlace: could be a good place to donate from breastfeeding bottles
- Fairytale Threads: will take breast pump without any supplies
- Toys R Us: during certain times of the year, they will take car seats and give a discount to the so
- Sell by bulk on facebook (one way to get it out of your house quickly and make some money still)
- Put money into kid's college account to help build that up!
- Use the Elf on the Shelf and use that to ask kids to pick out toys for other kids before they can get more toys
- Austin Children's Shelter: can donate at SafePlace on Riverside or at shelter on Manor
- Adobe pantryDobie Elementary School: takes donations (contact Caroline or Jessica and they can connect you to Richard HodegaHogeda in the College of Education)
- Dress for Success: place to donate business wear (but will also take other clothing items)
- Thred Up: can request a "clean up bag" and fill it up and send to them. They will offer you a price and then can recycle the rest or send it back to you
- Still in Style: consignment store on Burnet; more geared toward working style
- Clothes Swap Brunch: have a party to display all items and swap and then donate the rest
- Any policies on not getting so much "stuff":
- Use wishlist on Amazon to show family what you want/need
- Give ideas to grandparents like an annual Children's Museum pass for the family (instead of toys)
- Put a limit on grandparents (example: pick one thing and only buy for that....American girl doll for holiday and then get accessories to go wth that)
- Put "no gifts please" on the invitation to birthday parties
- Give ideas for experiences so you can make memories as a family
