The other sections of the recliner are components connecting the current angle of the leg rest to the seat back and the base piece for the rocking 4 bar mechanism. This set up is not purely an angle driven 4 bar mechanism. Multiple points of ground contact, two slots, and a multiple link shared joint across **#** links10 links. Unfortunately, an attempt at an 8 variable, 8 equation (4 sets of real and imaginary) could not provide an explicit solution, so there is a possibility that a relationship was missed for the control of the seat back or rocker base. To counter this, the min and max values of the main slotted piece B3 (yellow link in figures) were measured, providing a set of values for the closed and extended positions at the extremes of the L6 angle range. In this case, the sets of loops could be solved due to the shared link with shared links and the B3 known values at 2 locations. This did limit the initial target objective of providing an animation for the full chair, but the two static plots are at least able to depict the beginning and end at leastrange.

Fig. 6 Seat Back and Rocker Base Angle with Leg Rest Closed

Ground piece structure (chair seat) is in all red at the top (0,0) to (15.25,0)  where the dark blue, green, and magenta pieces to the bottom right of the ground are the leg rest extension from the previous section. The long black link L10 in the middle transfers the leg rest extension angles. The seat back links are in cyan (though the actual seat back piece is a metal strut through the chair that I was unable to measure), the magenta piece on the left is an intermediate ternary link, and the yellow link is the slotted B3 that determined min and max values. The green bar loop at the bottom is the frozen rocker base with the extended red linkage to indicate the angle of the chair feet/floor.
