COE process
COE nomination process for University award nominations
The University/Provost offers several awards each year, most of which are focused on teaching. Because these awards require statements of support from the dean and there is a limit to the number of nominations the college can submit to the EVPP, COE leadership established deadlines to facilitate the college-level nomination process prior to forwarding materials to the EVPP. These deadlines are outlined in the following pages. UT-level deadlines and past recipients’ names can be found here.
The practice in the College of Education is as follows:
Faculty can self-nominate or nominate others for these awards. Departments will select 1-2 nominations for the award to send forward to the Dean’s Office and have transparent processes for making these decisions, most likely after recommendation by a faculty committee that reviews possible nominations.
Department chairs will forward to the Dean’s Office the names of faculty they would like to nominate (no more than 2 per department) for a particular award by the set deadline. Please send these nominations to Sonja Runberg.
If the Dean’s Office receives more nominations than are allowed by the university for our college (typically 1-3), leadership will request additional information for each nominee in order to determine which nominations to forward to the UT committee.
At least 6 weeks prior to the university due date, candidates who will be nominated by the COE will be asked to prepare their packets and solicit the necessary support letters, including the letter from the department chair. All materials will be due to the Dean’s Office at least 2 weeks prior to the university due date.
Candidates’ packets will be finalized, with the dean’s statement of support added, and submitted to the Provost’s Office by the set deadline.
The College of Education also offers several awards with specific material requirements and due dates. Information regarding these awards will be announced during the spring 2023 semester.
