Austin ISD and Round Rock ISD placements are made through the Education Services Office (ESO).  Teachers may be recruited only during the dates given to us by the districts.  The Recruiting and Placement Timeline for each semester will be available on the Wiki as soon as it is established.  Both districts require teachers to complete and submit Cooperating Teacher Applications/Agreements that have been approved by their principals.  Coordinators will supply teachers in Austin ISD with Cooperating Teacher Applications each semester.  For Round Rock ISD placements, coordinators are to give the Cooperating Teacher Application forms only to campus principals – never directly to the teachers.  Teachers in either district may not host students unless/until a signed form from their principals has been received, either by the Education Services Office or the district.  Applications are available on the Education Services Wiki.  CT Agreement Forms  Submission information may be found at the bottom of the applications.

Austin ISD and Round Rock ISD Placements

AISD and RRISD placements are made through the Education Services Office.  Teachers may be recruited during the dates listed in the Recruiting and Placement Timeline by supplying them with a Cooperating Teacher Application that they fill out, have signed by their principal, and submit to the district.  New placement procedures will be in affect for the Spring 2020 semester.  During the Placement Period, coordinators access the system and make placements.  After the OPS closes at the end of the Placement Period, any new placements must be e-mailed to redset@austin.utexas.edu using the Coordinator Placement Sheet .

Intern Placements

Cooperating teachers for intern placements should be marked in the OPS by the time the system closes.  However, "TBD" student assignments are allowed to remain in the system as placeholders.  Final CT/intern matches are due at the end of the semester.  Please refer to the Recruiting and Placement Timeline for the specific due date.

Student Teacher Placements

Cooperating teachers for student teachers should be marked in the OPS with a specific student assigned by the time the system closes.  The districts require names for these assignments in order to secure the CT.  Any teachers that still have a "TBD" student teacher assignment after the system has closed will be released to other teacher certification programs.  Please refer to the Recruiting and Placement Timeline for specific the due dateIn the past, UT had an agreement form, and AISD did as well.  We have now collaborated with Austin ISD to create one form and share the contents.  This is our pilot semester, and we will continue to make improvements with your feedback. We ask for your flexibility as we try a new approach to making the CT recruiting process smoother for everyone. The Cooperating Teacher tracking document is what you will see in UT BOX and will be continuously updated as CT Interest forms are received. Note: Using the new form, the principal approval occurs by April 26th. If the principal does not recommend the CT, which rarely happens, we will contact you.

During the initial month of recruiting (March 18th-April 12th), if you are working to connect with a school and are not getting a response from the principal, please email Kelly at kcruise@utexas.edu.  She will reach out to the district each week with a list of schools that have been unresponsive to requests and AISD will nudge the principals. Send your needs to her by Friday of the second week(after reaching out twice with no response) and she will send the district a list of nudge requests by the following Monday.

PLEASE REMIND ALL CT'S YOU RECRUIT TO INDICATE ON THE FORM THAT THEY WANT TO WORK WITH YOU.
