Tower Lighting Policy

In accordance with official UT Tower Lighting Configurations, the tower will be lit (tower entirely orange configuration) in honor of student organization/sport club national championships.  The UTSCA has established further guidelines relating to the lighting of the tower:

  • The tower lighting policy applies to Sport Club team national championships earned at the highest level offered by the event. The tower will not be lit for individual honors.

    • “Team national championships” will be defined as the entire team winning the overall championship, not separate segments of the team, if a team championship is awarded in the sport. For example, a Women’s Handball Team victory would be recognized but the Women’s Handball Doubles championship would not be recognized with a lighting. Please ask the Sport Club Staff if you have further questions regarding your Club’s national championship format.

  • The tower will be lit once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester to honor all sport club national champions earned that semester. Requests may be made if a Club earns a team championship and the dates fall outside of the fall and spring semesters.

  • The Sport Club Staff shall request these dates through the President's Office at the beginning of each long semester.

  • The lighting will be canceled if no sport club earns a championship during the semester.
