Resources & Policies

  • Canvas - UT's official web-based learning management system for hosting and sharing all course materials.
    1. Beginning Fall 2024 - The Provost’s Office will enforce a minimum Canvas presence policy for all organized courses with more than 5 students. Minimum presence involves:
      1. posting the official course syllabus in the official Syllabus tab on Canvas course page and
      2. conducting all electronic communication related to grading within Canvas (or a Canvas-integrated tool).
    2. Official courses are automatically created in Canvas at least two months before the semester begins. They are not available to students, however, until the instructor publishes it.
    3. A sandbox course allows you to test Canvas features in a safe environment. In your sandbox course, you can add files, create quizzes, etc. and easily copy this content into your official course when you're ready.

    4. Need help with Canvas? Some options...

      1. Visit the Canvas Training Center.

      2. Seek consultation from the Moody College's Center for Advancing Teaching Excellence (CATE).

      3. Contact the UT Service Desk at 512-475-9400.
  • Articles/publications - digital versions
    • The department copier can send digitized copies of materials to your email address or flash drive, which you can then post on Canvas.
    • To link to materials at the library, please see find, borrow, or request
  • A/V Media / Videos
    Photocopying & Printer
    • The copier/printer located in the Media Library (CMA 6.168) may be used for copying and printing of exams, syllabi, and small quantities of other class materials.
    • The copier can send digitized copies of materials to your email address or flash drive, which you can then post on Canvas.
    • To print directly to the copier, you will need a special printer drive installed on your computer by the Moody College IT team.
    • If you have a question about the copier, contact RTF's office manager, milaka.falk@austin.utexas.edu.UT Libraries - find, borrow, or request
    • If you need digitization services, please note that you must supply the physical media to digitize.
      Procedures:
      • Obtain a DVD/BluRay from the PCL or from your personal collection.
      • Email Moody College's Assistant Director of Production Services, Keefe Boerner, to arrange.

  • Photocopying & Printer
  • Textbooks
  • File storage. Please use Canvas for sharing files with your students. However, you may want to use Box for sharing files with colleagues and TAs or for storing and sharing large files such as videos.
