TA Assignment Policy
TA allotments must fit within the annual budget determined by the COE Finance Office. In appointing TAs, every effort will be made to honor the preferences of faculty with the following considerations:
- Students to whom TA commitments have been made as part of recruitment packages must first be assigned.
- No student may be assigned to more than 20 hours of TA/AI within EDP per semester.
- No student may be employed for more than 30 hours total per semester.
- The student meets all UT and EDP criteria for Student Employment >
EDP Executive Assistant will notify faculty of their TA allocation via email according to the following timeline. The Department asks program areas to work together to prioritize their most deserving students when assigning Teaching Assistants, and will copy Area Chairs on TA allocations to help facilitate this coordination. Note: Department Chair review and approval is required before TA offers may be made to students.
- May 1: Summer/Fall allotment decision
- Mid-November: Spring allotment decision
