Watch video from LD4 Wikidata Affinity Group that covers Quickstatements | Paloma | - View video
- NOTE: First part of video before QuickStatements segment covers preparing for bulk updates, modeling data for Wikidata
Introductory - Hilary provides introductory level overview of QuickStatements (slides)
- Add/remove statements, labels, descriptions, and aliases
- Type commands or paste in commands from spreadsheet or text editor
- Edit in OpenRefine and export in QuickStatement format
- Version 2 is recommended (V.1 no longer supported)
- Robust documentation/help page that details syntax
Hilary demonstrates she - Hilary developed for V.1 and CSV syntax for QuickStatements
- Good-to-know tips
- How to go to QuickStatements tool, log in, create new batch, (TIP: test with small number first before going en masse), copy/paste data from spreadsheets, preview, and run.
- Review of how to convert V1 to CSV syntax
- Discussion
- No one here has used QuickStatements before, even though some have heard of it
- Looks really useful, plan to look at it more closely in future
- Links and notes here to refer back to later are helpful
- Stephanie shares use case in mind: updating source URLs as they change over time (e.g. TARO finding aid URLs changing with updates in progress)
- Did this video inspire new ideas for anyone?
- hands-on experimenting seems very doable, appealing
- What more about batch updates/processing do we want to know/discuss? Are we ready to move our focus to the next topic?
- Members report back on experimentation with QuickStatements?
- Bring questions/challenges to next conversation
- Post this question to list-serv for more input.

Assessing Wikidata projects | Melanie | - Impact of adding faculty entries vs. finding aids is different, hard to measure
- Can we define goals/outcomes we are aiming for, in measurable terms?
- Increasing access to collections (web page visits?)
- Creating authority records for common use (number of records created/efficiency in context of PCC authority work/incoming links (Mandy suggests Lighthouse browser plugin)
- Local use/integrations in our discovery environments
- General assessment overview would be helpful, some members don't have that support at their orgs
- Survey of US institutions using "Archives At" - visual result
- aim for inviting UTL assessment expert/s as guest speakers for June or July
|
Looking ahead | Paloma/Melanie | - Next meeting topics/plan?
- Come prepared to discuss measurable outcomes members are aiming for/want to assess
- Find examples of LD assessment done by others - e.g. PCC wikidata pilot assessment?
|
Action items
- Melanie Cofield will ask Assessment experts at UTL to join us in June or July for general overview
- Melanie Cofieldand Paloma Graciani Picardo will post follow-up questions and prompts to the group list (ongoing batch update topics, assessment topic homework)
