WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR COMP TICKETS? 

Department of Theatre and Dance faculty, staff, TAs, AIs, production cast and select production crew .

How many tickets can I request?

Department of Theatre and Dance faculty and staff are eligible for up to two complimentary tickets during the run of the production.

Production cast and select crew members are eligible for up to two complimentary tickets during the run of the of the production.

TAs and AIs are eligible for one complimentary tickets during the run of the production.

When can I request comp tickets?

Beginning two weeks before each production up until 5:00 PM the day before the performance. All weekday requests must be received at least one full day before the performance (i.e., 5:00 p.m. Monday for a Tuesday performance). As there is no one processing requests during the weekends, requests for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday performances must be received by 5:00 p.m. the prior Thursday.

How do I request comp tickets?

Reserved complimentary ticket requests must be made online at the Department of Theatre and Dance Store.

I've ordered my complimentary tickets online, what do I do next?

You may pick up your reserved complimentary tickets at the Department of Theatre and Dance Box Office on the date of the show. The Box Office opens one hour prior to curtain. Comp tickets will be issued in your name. Please collect your tickets at least fifteen minutes prior to curtain. At fifteen minutes prior to curtain, unclaimed comp tickets will be released.

There were no complimentary tickets available online. What do I do?

Reserved complimentary tickets are not available for every performance during the run of the production.

If you are unable to reserve a complimentary ticket in advance, it may be possible to attend the show for free by going to the Winship Box Office prior to the show and waiting for released tickets. At fifteen minutes prior to curtain, unclaimed reserved complimentary tickets will be released for general sale walk-ups, and/or those eligible for comps. Department of Theatre and Dance faculty, staff, TAs, AIs and production members should be prepared to show their university I.D. to the Box Office personnel.

I don't want to risk the show being sold out. What options do I have?

You may attend the invited dress performance for free. Seating is limited.

Important Information:

There are a limited number of complimentary tickets issued per production. Tickets are issued 'first come, first served'.

Reserved complimentary tickets are not available for every performance during the run of the production. Visit the Department of Theatre and Dance Store to check availability.

All seating in the B. Iden Payne Theatre is assigned. All seating in the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre is general admission. We are unable to arrange for complimentary tickets to be seated with purchased tickets for the B. Iden Payne Theatre.

Non-teaching graduate students and department undergraduate students may purchase a ticket for $15 at the Box Office. Students can save 30% on student price tickets by purchasing the Discount Ticket Package for Theatre and Dance Majors. Learn more here.

If you have questions about complimentary tickets, please contact either Cassie Gholston (232-5301) during normal business hours.(for the production they worked on only) are eligible to receive tickets and will receive an email two weeks prior to the production’s opening night to confirm their eligibility.


WHAT IF I AM A CAST/CREW MEMBER WHO JOINS A PRODUCTION LATE?

If you do join a production late, your stage manager, shop head or supervisor must email the Marketing staff to confirm your eligibility. You must have worked on the actual production in question to be eligible. If you are not on the comp eligible list, your request will be denied.


HOW MANY TICKETS CAN I REQUEST? 

  • FACULTY AND STAFF are eligible for up to two complimentary tickets for the entire run of any Texas Theatre and Dance production. 
  • CAST AND CREW are eligible for up to two complimentary tickets for the entire run of any Texas Theatre and Dance production. 
  • TA/AI/MICHENER FELLOWS are eligible for up to one complimentary ticket for the entire run of any Texas Theatre and Dance production. 


WHAT IF I FALL INTO MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY? DOES THAT MEAN I GET MORE COMPS?

Whichever of your classifications has the highest rank (and is eligible for the greatest number of tickets) supersedes any others. For example, if you are a TA who is also a crew member, your crew status would supersede your allotted ticket as a TA and you would only be eligible for two complimentary tickets and not three. 


WHEN CAN I REQUEST COMP TICKETS?             

Comps can be reserved beginning two weeks before each production. An email with additional information will be sent through the Marketing staff and shop heads to announce ticket availability the Wednesday two weeks prior to the opening of the performance.


HOW DO I REQUEST COMP TICKETS?

Complimentary ticket requests must be made online. More information will be provided to those who are comp eligible for each performance (you will receive an email from tadticketing@austin.utexas.edu or from your stage manager). There are a limited number of comp tickets issued per production and tickets are issued on a first come, first served basis.


CAN I LEAVE COMPS UNDER SOMEONE ELSE’S NAME?

Tickets will be held under the name of the person requesting them. Our system is monitored to ensure only those eligible to claim complimentary tickets use the code to make those reservations. If you are booking on behalf of someone else, the name of the person eligible must be in the notes, or the request will be declined.


HOW DO I PICK UP MY COMP TICKETS?  

Your comp ticket will be provided to you digitally and sent to the email address you provided upon check out. If you would like to request printed tickets, you may collect those at the Winship Box Office beginning one hour prior to your selected performance. If you cannot locate your ticket, please email tadticketing@austin.utexas.edu or contact a member of Box Office staff. 


WHAT IF I AM UNABLE TO REQUEST A COMP IN ADVANCE?

If you were not able to request a comp ticket in advance of your chosen performance, proceed to the Winship Box Office prior to the performance you would like to attend and advise the staff that you are on the comp eligibility list. There will be a 'stand by' line at the Box Office for you. Tickets unsold at 15 minutes prior to curtain will be offered to those in the stand by line to those eligible on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be prepared to provide an ID at the box office to join the standby line. 


WHAT ABOUT COMP REQUESTS FOR PREVIEW PERFORMANCES?

Eligible parties may request comps for preview performances. Preview performances are open to the public so seating may be limited. Patrons may also purchase a $5 ticket (students) or $10 (all other patrons) to preview online or at the Winship Box Office during posted operating hours.


WHAT IF I HAVE COMPS AND WANT TO BUY ADDITIONAL TICKETS?

All seating in Winship venues are general admission. Those eligible for comp tickets who want to purchase additional tickets may do so here: https://tadticketing.thundertix.com/ Any additional seats purchased will be permitted to sit next to those holding comp tickets.
