FWA: Flexible Work Arrangement; for the purposes of this page, an annual proposal to allow a COLA staff member to request a change to their regularly scheduled work hours, or to request one or more days of their regular work schedule in a location other than campus; specific restrictions and provisions may be found in the current remote work guidance.
Telework: Routinely working one or more days per week at a location that is not the regularly assigned place of employment.

Process:
- Review the college's remote work guidance here.
- Addendum to published policy: "In mid-May, after the official commencement date through July 31, the College permits staff to work up to 3 days per week remotely, as long as business needs are met, and with supervisor approval and an approved FWA agreement on file."
- Each staff member who is eligible and would like to request an FWA must complete the FWA Request Form and FWA Expectations form (linked below).
- Requests to work remotely more than 2 days per week must also be signed by the COLA HR Director.
- Requests to work outside of Texas must receive prior approval by COLA HR, Dean Stevens, and the Out of State Committee, with possible additional levels of approval.
- Save forms using the following naming convention:
- FWA Request_YY-YY_DEPT_eid_Name
- FWA Expectations_YY-YY_DEPT_eid_Name
- Submit completed forms to the Dean's Office here.
- FWAs, once approved, must be re-approved on an annual basis. Best practice is to complete these with the annual appraisal.
