These General Promotion and Tenure Guidelines describe the promotion process, preparation of materials, and management of dossiers for the promotion of tenured and tenure-track faculty members at UT Austin, excluding faculty members whose primary academic appointment is in the Dell Medical School (except as noted in Sections B.1 and D.4).

The evaluation process comprises independent reviews at multiple levels , as defined in (Section A.2).  Therefore, meaning review recommendations at one level are do not controlling dictate the outcome at a subsequent level.

  • The recommendations at each level should reflect the professional, evidence- and experience-based judgement of each faculty member and or administrator.

Like all employment decisions at the University, no recommendations will be positively or negatively influenced by the candidate’s race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy), age, disability, citizenship, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
