As part of the evaluation process, the BC/EC writes a statement to be four statements that are included in the promotion dossier that contextualizes [Sections G.6(a), G.7(a), G.8(a), and G.9(a)] that contextualize the candidate’s contributions in each of the areas defined in area of review (Section A.6 and in accordance with instructions provided below in Section G7).
Generally, eligible voting members of the BC/EC should write these statements . However, in special circumstances excluding close collaborators of the candidate.
In unusual circumstances, a dean or department chair may authorize a faculty member of the same rank as the candidate to write the BC/EC statement. In such cases, the dean or department chair must explain in writing the special unusual circumstances justifying the authorization.
