Use the unique or course.id (c.id) to: move to another semester, add students to a class (move students to a specific section within a unique-for staggered start times), and synch sync canvas. 
The c.id is more useful for navigating admin sites.
Course.id in URL is different from course unique. course = in URL # is the course id. The unique number listed on the instructor column is the unique.
In the example below, the unique is 53665, while the c.id is 741694.
To add students to unique, click on that +, enter in UTeids, and choose the unique from the pull down arrow.
