We wanted to make a mechanism inspired by the famous ‘Can’t help myself’ made by Sun Yuan and Peng Yu. A link to their mechanism is attached below.
The main objective for this mechanism is to have a repetitive task where the mechanism itself creates the problem that it needs to solve. In this process, it therefore causes itself to repeat its motion continually. The task we chose was sweeping objects off of a table and into a bucket, which would then dump the objects back on the table to be swept up again.
