Adding questions to an assignment is the same for almost all assignment types.

University of Texas Instructors

Only multiple choice questions are currently allowed on bubble sheet exams, however they can be set as manually graded items to allow for other question types. If you would like help with this feature, simply email us at questhelp@austin.utexas.edu . Be sure to include your UT eid in any email correspondence please.

First select Add Item from the assignment page:

Or click the icon of a slide with a question mark in the learning module: add question

The next page that loads is the search menu for the question banks available to each user.

To use the modern search engine (recommended), please push the modern button in the upper right hand corner. You can always revert to the classical version if you don't like the added features.

Note: once clicking the 'Modern' button, you will be using the modern search. However, you will see a 'Classic' button in the upper right hand corner. You can use this to toggle back to the classic version of searching if you'd like.

Browsing by section:

Each public bank is broken up into chapters and sections with reasonably descriptive titles. Feel free to browse through them to find questions maintained by the staff at Quest. For more information about the sectioning, the table of contents for each bank is available here: Question Banks Table of Contents

Searching the banks:

All searches are not case-sensitive and include all appearances of the characters entered, e.g. searching for "in" will find "in", "Interaction", "Interference", etc.

by Question text within a specified bank:

Searches the whole body of the question, but not the code portion of TeX questions.

by Title within a specified bank:

Searches the titles of the questions in the specified bank.

by Tag within a specified bank:

Searches the tags associated with questions in the specified bank. We encourage all editors to use appropriate keywords to make searches easier, however not all authors do so.

by ID:

Searches for the specified item ID from all of the questions in the database, not by bank.

Search by your set criteria. The Results will be in the lower left quadrant.

Then, to preview a single question, click on it and it will preview in the lower right quadrant.

You can also see if this question has been used by others at your institution using the Preview, History tab.  If there is nothing in that tab, it means no one at your institution has used the selected question.

Tags (on the left) can also be useful in selecting just the right questions for your assignment.

From any of these steps you can add the question to your assignment by pushing the +

Alternatively, on the classic view, you can click "Preview All" to view the questions brought up in the search to quickly sort through the questions. Add a group of selected ones by clicking "Add items".

Once you've added the items you'd like on the assignment, simply click "Done" to go back to the assignment view.
