Costume Shop Fitting Rooms

Craft Room, Supplies, & Tools

  • The craft room is not a workspace. If you need to use an item or tool that is in the room, ask permission to use the item and to get access to the space. (Email Tanya or other staff  costumestaff@utlists.utexas.edu)
  • Most craft supplies are located in grey cabinets in the hallway.  Everything is labeled
  • Some supplies and tools are locked up for safe keeping.  Ask Tanya if you cannot find something you need.

Dye Room

  • For your safety, Dye Room use is by appointment only.
    • We can discuss if any training is needed for use of supplies and equipment
  • You must have been fit tested for a respirator in order to dye or use toxic products
  • Always keep the room locked
  • Please clean up before you leave. Thank you.

Respirator Fit Testing

  • Normally, annual fit testing is required and a medical questionnaire must be filled out every 3 years.
  • Due to Covid-19, the Occupational Health Program is not fit testing anyone unless they have a critical need to use a respirator daily. We do not fall into that category
  • They request any task requiring use of a respirator be passed on to someone who has been fit tested in lieu of fit testing new employees for occasional respirator use.
  • Please try to use nontoxic alternatives whenever possible to avoid the need for a respirator. If you have any questions, feel free to email Tanya (tolalde@austin.utexas.edu)
  • If you absolutely need to use a respirator and have not been fit tested, please email Tanya and she can try to get you a fit test appointment.
  • No labels
