WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR COMP TICKETS?

Department of Theatre and Dance faculty, staff, TAs, AIs, production cast and select production crew (for the production they worked on only) are eligible to receive tickets and will receive an email two weeks prior to the production’s opening night to confirm their eligibility.

WHAT IF I AM A CAST/CREW MEMBER WHO JOINS A PRODUCTION LATE?

If you do join a production late, your stage manager, shop head or supervisor must email the Marketing staff to confirm your eligibility. You must have worked on the actual production in question to be eligible. If you are not on the comp eligible list, your request will be denied.

HOW MANY TICKETS CAN I REQUEST?

  • FACULTY AND STAFF are eligible for up to two complimentary tickets for the entire run of any Texas Theatre and Dance production.
  • CAST AND CREW are eligible for up to two complimentary tickets for the entire run of any Texas Theatre and Dance production.
  • TA/AI/MICHENER FELLOWS are eligible for up to one complimentary ticket for the entire run of any Texas Theatre and Dance production.

WHAT IF I FALL INTO MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY? DOES THAT MEAN I GET MORE COMPS?

Whichever of your classifications has the highest rank (and is eligible for the greatest number of tickets) supersedes any others. For example, if you are a TA who is also a crew member, your crew status would supersede your allotted ticket as a TA and you would only be eligible for two complimentary tickets and not three.

WHEN CAN I REQUEST COMP TICKETS?

Comps can be reserved beginning two weeks before each production up until 5:00p.m. the day before the performance for all weeknight performances (Tuesday through Thursday) and by 5:00p.m. the Thursday evening prior to all weekend performances (Friday through Sunday). An email with additional information will be sent through the Marketing staff and shop heads to announce ticket availability the Wednesday two weeks prior to the opening of the performance.

HOW DO I REQUEST COMP TICKETS?

Complimentary ticket requests must be made online at the Department of Theatre and Dance Store. You can find that link here. There are a limited number of comp tickets issued per production and tickets are issued on a first come, first served basis.

CAN I LEAVE COMPS UNDER SOMEONE ELSE’S NAME?

With our current policy, tickets will be held under the name of the person requesting them. It is imperative that you let any guests know to collect tickets under the name of the person eligible or they may be denied by the box office.

HOW DO I PICK UP MY COMP TICKETS?

You may pick up your comp tickets on the date of your selected performance at the Winship Box Office, which opens one hour prior to curtain. Comp tickets will be held in your name. Please collect your tickets at least fifteen minutes prior to curtain. At fifteen minutes prior to curtain, unclaimed comp tickets will be released.

WHAT IF I AM UNABLE TO REQUEST A COMP IN ADVANCE?

If you were not able to request a comp ticket in advance of your chosen performance, proceed to the Winship Box Office prior to the performance you would like to attend and advise the staff that you are on the comp eligibility list. There will be a 'stand by' line at the Box Office for you. Tickets unsold at 15 minutes prior to curtain will be offered to those in the 'stand by' line to those eligible on a first-come, first-served basis.

WHAT ABOUT COMP REQUESTS FOR PREVIEW PERFORMANCES?

Eligible parties may request comps for preview performances. Preview performances are open to the public so seating may be limited. Patrons may also purchase a $5 ticket (students) or $10 (all other patrons) to preview at the Winship Box Office during posted operating hours. This price is only available to walk-up buyers with current I.D.

WHAT IF I HAVE COMPS AND WANT TO BUY ADDITIONAL TICKETS?

Additional tickets cannot be seated with complimentary tickets in reserved seating areas. More information about ticketing for the 2021/2022 Season will be made available in Fall 2021.
