Outlook 2013/2016

To add the mailbox to your PC Outlook 2010/2013/2016 folder list, please do the following:

  • In Outlook, Go to the File Tab
  • Choose Account Settings> Account Settings
  • Select Change
  • Select More Settings
  • Advanced Tab
  • Select Add
  • Enter:  <Enter the mailbox address or display name>
  • Select OK… until you get through all the windows.
  • The mailbox will now be in your folder list

If you wish to send from this mailbox, in a new message,

  • Go to the Options tab and select the From button in the Show Fields section
  • Select the From button in the new message and find the mailbox name in the Global address list
  • You must choose it from the GAL and not enter it by hand

If you reply to a message in the shared mailbox, the reply address will be the shared mailbox.

You can also drag the shared Inbox to your Favorites section in the left pane of your mail view in Outlook.  The Inbox “shortcut” will change to bold when new email arrives.

Web (OWA)

You can also view the mailbox via a web browser:

https://outlook.office365.com/owa/utexas.edu/<mailbox email address>

For example:

https://outlook.office365.com/owa/utexas.edu/ecac@engr.utexas.edu/

When you send a message in OWA in comes "from" the mailbox you are viewing.
