Promotion & Tenure Timeline

January

  • During the annual faculty review meeting, each P&T candidate meets with Department Chair to form a P&T committee
    • Committee is typically comprised of three committee members, with one serving as Chair
  • Each candidate, in consultation with Department Chair and P&T committee, discusses external letter writers for the dossier, five selected by the candidate and five by the Department Chair/P&T committee

April

  • List of departmental P&T candidates due to Dean's Office
  • CNS P&T Roadshow with representatives from the Provost's Office
  • Candidates finalize CV, research statement, and list of five most significant works completed in rank
  • Department submits list of external letter writers to Dean's Office for approval

May

  • CNS Associate Dean meets with P&T candidates
  • Dean's Office meets with departmental admin staff re: dossier prep
  • Department forwards external review requests, with link to candidate's CV, research statement, five most significant works completed in rank, and optional COVID-19 impact statement
  • Admin staff update P&T materials in departmental wiki and Smartsheet templates
  • Department provides candidates with Smartsheets for dossier material submission

June

  • Candidates submit P&T materials to the Department



Late July

  • All candidate materials must be complete and submitted to the Department

August

  • Department faculty vote on P&T dossiers

September

  • Department submits completed P&T dossiers to the College

October, November, December

  • P&T dossier review by the Dean and the President's Office

February

  • President notifies Dean of P&T decisions

  • Department Chair notifies candidates of P&T decisions

March

  • Final arguments due to the Provost's Office for terminal appointments
  • Requests for CCAFR review due

May

  • CCAFR reports due to the President; candidate receives copy of the report
