Kinematic Analysis - Rotary Motion
Due to friction between the disks and the disk plate, the disk plate rotates with the rotation of the cam disks. The disk plate rotates counterclockwise (viewed from the top) with the first disk's rotation, and it rotates clockwise with the second disk's rotation.
The following graph shows the angular position of the Lion as the disk plate rotates. It is a simple sine graph with maximum angular position of 180 degrees. As shown in the graph, after reaching its maximum angular position of 180 degrees, it returns back to its original position. Similar to the linear motion, the first half of the graph corresponds to the first disk and the second disk returns the Lion to its original place which is shown in the second half of the graph.
