Tips For Future Groups - Drag Reduction System (DRS)

  1. Do something you care about:

Firstly and most importantly, we suggest centering your project around something important to you. It will keep you both interested and motivated during the timeline of the whole project. For us, this came from our interest in our formula racing car.

       2. Stay ahead of the game:

This project is likely not the only work you'll be doing this semester and if you leave it off until the last minute your work will snowball, leaving your team to deal with the consequences of a lot of work on a very tight timeline. Make sure you meet deadlines, communicate with each other, and frequently check in with the group's progress.

       3. Ask questions:

Engineering is hard, and no one expects you to know it all. Don't be afraid to ask about things you don't understand. The professor, TA's, and staff at TIW and the ME machine shop are all great resources and know their stuff. They often have great ideas on how you can improve or execute your ideas and are on your side. If they're there to help you, take advantage of those resources!

       4. Have fun!

This project is an awesome hands-on opportunity most people will never get to do. While you're expected to put in the work, you should also have fun while doing so.
