LAITS Server Support Policies
Server Policy
Compliance: Customers and employees must adhere to the University's Acceptable Use and Security Policy, UT Systems Information Resources Use and Security Policy, and Texas state laws. Failure to abide by the policies and laws set forth by the University or state will result in immediate account suspension.
Security Tools: All LAITS-supported Windows servers must have ISO-recommended security tools installed, including Nessus clients, as per UT ISO Security Office policies.
Monitoring: All LAITS-supported server systems will be monitored using Nagios.
Security Notifications: Customers must inform LAITS upon receiving any notifications from the Security Office about potential security issues with their systems. While LAITS typically receives most notifications, some may not be forwarded.
Licenses: Customers must keep operating systems and application licenses up to date. LAITS will not override expired licenses.
Support Agreements: Customers with physical servers supported by LAITS must maintain an active support agreement with the hardware vendor. LAITS will not support systems without active support or those older than seven years.
Virus Protection: All LAITS-supported systems, including Linux systems, must have virus scanning software installed.
