Updating Firmware on a TSX Ultra Low Temperature Freezer

One way to know if the firmware needs to be updated is if it doesn’t stay connected to the WIFI. This can be seen by the status changing to “unknown” on the app.  If that’s the case, call the Thermo Fisher people and they will try to troubleshoot by asking a few questions about the internet, but probably will end up scheduling an update.

A second way is to send the Thermo Fisher support people the Event Log stored on the freezer, so that they can analyze it and determine if a firmware update is needed.

The steps are:

  1. Go to the freezer and tap the “notebook” icon
  2. Tap the Event Log and insert a USB drive
  3. Tap Export Log
  4. Make the file type a PUC and you can choose to send either 6 months or 3 months, but it must be AT LEAST 3 months
  5. Download the PUC files onto the computer, then convert them to a zip file.
  6. Email the files to the support email and include the serial number of the freezer in the subject of the email.
  7. They will email you back with whether a firmware update is needed, and then schedule it for you
