Welcome to the Waggoner Center for Alcohol and Addiction Research. We’re glad to have you aboard!
First, go to the new employee orientation and complete the First Day tasks:
https://hr.utexas.edu/current/new/new-employee-checklist
A number of lab-specific requirements must be met before you can begin working in the lab. This letter outlines those requirements as well as some basic lab-related info.
You will receive an invitation to the online calendar, Labshake, which you will use to reserve certain instruments that are also used by other labs to ensure you can use what you need when you come in.
Please familiarize yourself with the following items (attached):
Mayfield_BSL2_Manual_2023_Jun_.docx. This is our lab safety manual and outlines the basic safety procedures for our BSL2 lab. It also lists the classes you must complete before beginning work in the lab. Please take all required classes as soon as possible and contact me when you have completed them. I will then provide a tour of the lab and the OH 102 (Site-specific hazard) training.
Note: You do NOT have to take the following classes listed in our BSL2 manual:
- OH 301 and OH 302 (Radiation safety trainings)
- CW 512 (NIH rDNA Guidelines).
Finally, please send me your UT EID, cell phone number and the name and cell phone number for an emergency contact.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Welcome!
Jessica
