- Discard anything that won’t be used by someone else. This includes samples, reagents, etc. Discard all working stocks of reagents, etc. on bench unless someone is actively using them. If anything might be useful for practice, see Elizabeth and we will decide what to do with it. Check:
- Refrigerators
- Freezers
- Benches
- Cold room
- Chemical/biological waste.
- If you are the sole waste generator for a particular waste stream, submit to EHS for disposal.
- Condense remaining samples/reagents into as few boxes as possible.
- Keep things organized though. I.e., don’t combine multiple projects into a single box unless it makes logical sense to do so and items are clearly identified.
- Anything that remains should have an inventory list so others can locate and use the item.
- If a project is being continued by someone else, transfer ownership to them. (I.e., by labeling with their name/date.)
- Update freezer maps on box and on the freezer itself.
- For freezer maps on box, adjust color coding as necessary.
- Transfer ownership of Box folders to Dayne and/or whomever else needs the info.
- Make sure all protocols/methods and data are transferred and clearly organized.
- Surrender UT-owned computers to be wiped.
- If computer contains purchased/licensed software, remove licenses. Give license info to Elizabeth or Jayna.
- Clean out desk area, discarding personal items and unnecessary work items. (E.g., papers/notes that no one else will understand, etc.)
