FBS Best Practices
Clinical Scheduling
- Selected the usage as assisted, clinical.
- Book the Technologist who is working that day for the scan (also as Assisted, Clinical)
- There are multiple Technologists, make sure you book the correct one depending on the modality (MRI or PET/CT) and the day of the week. All are good about marking their availability on their calendars.
- In the comments box fill in the MRN / scanning code, indicate the type of scan being performed (e.g Shoulder MRI) and the initials of the Technologist (KLP, TJH or KJM) that will run the scan. Copy and paste this information into the comment box when you book the technologist as well.
- Clinical imaging sessions may not be reserved prospectively before an order has been assigned and the patient has been contacted.
Research Scheduling
- Usage may vary. Select unassisted if you are operating the scanner yourself. Select assisted if a technologist is running your scan.
- If you are using a technologist, do not forget to book them on their calendar for the same amount of time as your scan.
- You may only book time in 15 minute increments.
- Try to schedule start times on the hour or half hour.
- Avoid gaps between scans by booking the times directly abutting other scans.
- In the comments section, list the StudyID for the session (if applicable), and the names of all the researchers who will be present for the scan. For MRI scans this would include the Level 2, Level 1, and Level 0 personnel.
- Research imaging sessions may not be reserved prospectively before a participant has been identified and contacted, and a StudyID has been assigned
