How to Add a High School Instructor - Newest Release
If a UT Instructor is asking to join Quest, please leave that OST Ticket for a more senior member of the Quest Support team.
The process to add a High School instructor is as follows:
Click on link to High School in the OS Ticket. Get name, city, and state from the High School website.
Log onto https://quest.cns.utexas.edu/systemadmin/main (work must be done on prod not lbtest)
- Click on the Institutions tab.
- Type in a search parameter using the % wild card around a significant word in the school name.
For example - typing %rayburn% would display Rayburn HS in Pasadena, TX.
- Get the Intuition ID number from the table displayed.
- If the expiration is expired 2+ yrs ago, click on the school name in the table displayed.
- Scroll down to Expiration Date area and use the calendar to set a new date 120 days from today.
- Click the Update button.
- If no matching school can be found you will need to switch your user profile to the previous Quest version to add the school.
- Go back to the User tab
- Type in your UT EID and hit Find
- Go to the bottom of the page where Beta Routing is located, select none, and click on Update.
- You should see User was Updated box
- If you do not see User was Updated box then start a new Quest sysadmin window (https://quest.cns.utexas.edu/systemadmin/main) and repeat the process.
- The process is not complete till you get the User was Updated box
- Go back to the User tab
- Open a new Quest sysadmin window (https://quest.cns.utexas.edu/systemadmin/main)
- Go to Places & Institutions.
- search for the country, then state, then city in the drop down menus.
- If the city does not exist then hit Edit and add the city.
- Search for the school in drop down menu.
- Once you find it, click Edit to get the Intuition ID and Quest Expiration Date
- If the school does not exist then hit Edit and add the school.
- The Expiration Date for a new school is 120 days.
- Get the Intuition ID once the school is added
- search for the country, then state, then city in the drop down menus.
- Go to Places & Institutions.
If you have not already switched to the previous version of Quest please do it now
- Go back to the User tab.
- Type in your UT EID and hit Find
- Go to the bottom of the page where is says Beta Routing, select none, and click on Update.
- You should see User was Updated box
- If you do not see User was Updated the start a new Quest sysadmin window (https://quest.cns.utexas.edu/systemadmin/main) and repeat the process.
Log onto https://quest.cns.utexas.edu/institutionadmin/main/index.
- Open External High Schools > Manage Credentials (Manage Credentials is at the bottom of the page)
- Copy the instructor UT EID from the OS Ticket
- At the bottom of the page, add UT EID, Institution ID, and role "Instructor" from drop down menu . Click Add button.
- Repeat the above process but using the role "Contributing Editor" from the drop down menu.
- The High School Instructor has been added to Quest.
Go back to OS Ticket.
- Select "Instructor Signup - Approval (HS Instructor)" in the canned responses if an existing school.
- If the High School new to Quest, Select "Instructor Sign Up - Free Trial & New HS Instructor"
- Update the instructors name, Institution ID, and Expiration Date in the OS Ticket response (this information can be found in the Quest Admin screen for the Intuition - the first page reviewed at when looking up the high school (step 2))
- After updating this data, click "Resolve" to close the ticket.
To return your UT EID to the current Quest version,
- Go to lbtest - https://lbtest.cns.utexas.edu/systemadmin/main
- Enter in your UT EID and select appropriate pool (pool2) at the bottom of the page
- Update
